Archidoc is a training course specifically for filmmakers who are working on a documentary film that uses archives.

The workshop is organised into four sections:

• Project analysis
• Preparation of a professional pacakge (note of intent, synopsis, virtual trailer, treatment) for presentation to producers and broadcasters
• Courses and masterclasses on documentaries, artistic intent and production issues
• Meetings with producers and broadcasters.

The workshop takes place over three sessions held over four months, so participants must be prepared to commit to a very intensive, full-time working rhythm. Between each session, participants will receive personalised distance tutoring, and are expected to arrive at each session with a new version of their project.

The first two workshops will be run by experienced filmmakers who will help participants develop their project, with particular emphasis on storytelling issues and the role of archive footage. The third session will focus on the editing process of the film trailer, and the final session will allow participants to pitch their project to a panel of European producers and commissioning editors.

Target Group

Archidoc is a three step training initiative designed for filmmakers who have a documentary project with archive material. The objective is to develop and fine-tune projects in a creative and professional environment.

Participation fee

Archidoc costs €2,000 and the deadline to apply is 6 September 2010.

2010 edition

The course comprises three sessions in October and November 2010, and February 2011. The objective of the course is to fine-tune projects in a creative and professional environment.

Session 1: 18 - 24 October 2010, Leipzig, Germany
Session 2: 24 November - 1 October 2010, Paris, France
Session 3: February 2011, three days, dates and venue tbc
