Several documentary productions were honoured at the annual Cinema For Peace Gala in Berlin yesterday. In the presence of global personalities like Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio and former Russian president Mikhail Gorbachev, awards went to CRUDE by American filmmaker Joe Berlinger, THE PICTURE OF THE NAPALM GIRL ("Das Mädchen und das Foto") by German producer Marc Wiese, and CHILDREN OF WAR by US-producer Bryan Single.
Cinema For Peace wants to emphasise the role of films as a symbol for peace, freedom and tolerance. The award gala is held every year during the Berlinale Festival.
