The Amsterdam based film school Binger is launching their first edition of Doc Lab. It is an 18 months developing programme for makers of creative documentaries. Deadline for application 1 March 2010.

Doc lab offers talented documentary filmmakers coaching from fine-tuning the initial idea, through narrative development, the actual shooting, to the editing of their film and on towards festival platforming, marketing and release.

On 14 June Doc Lab will kick off with the first workshop, divided into three parts. In the first part advisor Jennifer Fox will share her expertise on Storytelling. The second part will focus on how to articulate your project on paper. In the last part advisor John Appel will focus on narrative style.
This workshop will last until 26 June 2010, after which the participants will individually continue research and development of their project.

There will be seven more residential workshops in Amsterdam during these 18 months each lasting 1 to 2 weeks. In 2011 four more workshops are planned on production, editing, postproduction and distribution.
In addition to the workshops at Binger the development programme will also offer individual coaching.

The group of Doc Lab participants consists of 8 documentary filmmakers with 6 European and 2 non-European. The tuition fee for the 18 months programme for all participants is € 2800, which is to be paid in two terms. This includes travel and for non-Dutch residents housing in Amsterdam.
