What is reelisor?
reelisor is an umbrella social network for the professional European documentary film business.
As a network for existing platforms and websites, reelisor offers guidance and information throughout the whole year. Its mission is to encourage training, education and the exchange of knowledge within the European documentary film market and its related fields.
Why reelisor and what are the advantages of signing up?
As there hasn't been any umbrella platform for the whole European documentary community, we felt that is was time to create such a platform. Its aim is to connect documentary film professionals, commissioning editors, festivals, markets, training platforms and all other initiatives active in the industry.
Most film-/documentary festivals and markets plan online elements with the ambition to function separately from the physical festival. They provide access to their online platforms for everyone who registered for the event. Those platforms are accessible before and during the markets, and are mainly generated for the community of registered participants. These developments are of great value to the documentary industry. What is missing is a freely accessible umbrella platform for the documentary film business. With its new project "reelisor", Documentary Campus fills this gap by bringing the key players of the industry together for joint projects, cooperation and training programmes.
The platform allows documentary professionals from Europe and all over the world to register with their personal profile, to present current projects, to find current news of the industry and to improve their state of knowledge. reelisor aims at a strong cooperation with all existing platforms. reelisor connects markets, festivals, training initiatives and documentary filmmakers, and helps to promote current projects and spur the growth of the documentary film industry. reelisor offers all market-relevant initiatives (festivals, markets, training initiatives) a new tool to promote their ideas, and to link their websites and projects. reelisor offers networking possibilities across organisations and without expiring date.
Who can register with reelisor?
Any professional from the documentary film and media industry can register with reelisor. Be it director, producer, commissioning editor, distributor, filmmaker in training, funding body, editor, festival/market representatives, or any other creative media folk. Companies and organisations could fall e.g. into one of the following categories:
- production or distribution company
- broadcaster
- training institution
- film funding institution
- universities
- other industry related companies
Since reelisor is an exclusively European funded project, our primary focus lies on the European market, i.e. members of the MEDIA programme. Of course non-European film professionals are also very welcome to join reelisor, upload their profiles and start networking! However, they may have to explain why they are interested in participating in reelisor. Furthermore, they will not be able to become premium members.
Every registration will be checked thoroughly before the user profile is activated. Should we become aware of people not using their true identity we reserve the right to reject the application for membership and/or to terminate a user's membership with immediate effect after registration. In this event, no refunds will be payable.
What are the costs to become a Reelisor?
Basic registration is free and grants you full use of the site. Europe based film professionals from countries that are members of the MEDIA programme may also register as premium member for € 49.00 a year. Premium membership grants you free access to our valuable repository of transcripts and yearbook downloads not to mention discounts to select festivals and training initiatives throughout the year.
Since reelisor is an exclusively European funded project, our primary focus lies on the European market. As a contribution to project development, we have to charge all non-Europeans from countries that are not members of the MEDIA programme a registration fee of € 110.00 once.

How does the payment for membership work?
You can pay with Visa or MasterCard. We offer the highest possible level of security by using Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard SecureCode (MSC) to protect you from card fraud.
You can upgrade to premium membership at any time, just click on the button "upgrade to premium membership" in your profile settings.
Your premium membership costs € 49.00 and will last 12 months. After 12 months, your membership status will automatically change to basic membership, with the option of an upgrade.
What does reelisor offer its members?

Where does reelisor obtain its information from?
All information related to persons, companies or projects come from the respective users themselves.
The information provided under the section "Knowledge" is carefully researched by reelisor and/or partners of the website and will be updated on a regular basis.
How up-to-date and reliable is the information provided?
The reelisor team will constantly check the information provided on the website. Persons or companies who publish false statements will be excluded with immediate effect and denied future access to the platform.
The information displayed in the network and project sections is insofar up-to-date since all users create and edit their own profiles and should be interested in the accuracy and up-to-dateness of their own personal details.
How to proceed when a Reelisor would like to unsubscribe?
If at any time you would like to unsubscribe, you can delete your account directly in your profile. In case of termination, all your data will be completely removed from reelisor. No refunds are possible.
How to order and pay? In 4 simple steps
You can order all available yearbook editions of the Documentary Campus Masterschool in the knowledge / download section. Get transcripts of the Open Training Sessions (OTS) and further events organised by Documentary Campus bundled into annual volumes.

Want to know more about the content of each yearbook? Click the OTS titles to see the events’ detailed programmes with information on topics and experts. You will be re-directed to the corresponding section on the Documentary Campus website. Note: If an expert denied approval for publication, transcripts were subject to editing. Contributions or speakers not included in the yearbook are marked with an asterisk (*). Add an item to your shopping cart by clicking the respective button.
Shopping cart content
Items that were added to the shopping cart are not yet ordered. You can add further items, or de-select items, before you place the actual order. If you are not a reelisor member and you decide not to proceed with the transaction, your cart will be saved in the form of a cookie for one year or until cookies are cleared. Member carts will not be cleared at all.
How to ... order articles?
It takes just four simple steps to conclude the transaction:
Step 1: Shopping Cart
The shopping cart displays the items you have selected and their price.
You can
- add items by clicking the “Add” button next to the item you would like to order.
- de-select items by clicking the check box next to the item you would like to remove from your cart.
On this page you will also find a download link to the free Acrobat Reader©. This, or any other software that can display .pdf files, is needed to view the yearbook articles you purchase.
If you want to order the items in your shopping cart, click the “Go to checkout” button.
Step 2: Address
Enter your address information in the appropriate boxes. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory. Be sure to enter the address you would like to appear in your receipt.
Click “Proceed to secure payment form” when done.
Step 3: Payment
You can pay with Visa or MasterCard. On the page of our Payment Service Provider, Sparkassen-Internetkasse, please enter your name, credit card number, expiry date and Card Verification Number. We offer the highest possible level of security by using Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard SecureCode (MSC) to protect you from card fraud. VbV and MSC provide the authentication of the cardholders. You will be automatically directed to a secure site of the card-issuing bank. On this site, you confirm the payment by entering a password or a PIN. It is not until then that the payment is actually being authorised online.
Please note: In accordance to para. 312 clause 1 No. 1 BGB a right of cancellation for your order does not exist once payment is effective.
Step 4: Download
Click the “Download” button next to the item you have ordered to save the corresponding file on your computer. If you have ordered more than one yearbook, do the same for all displayed items. “Downloads remaining” indicates how many downloading attempts you have left, counting down from 3.
A download link per ordered item will also be sent to your stated email account. If you don’t download the yearbooks instantly, you have the option to access the download link(s) later on. They will be active for one month.
Click the “Print receipt” button to print a confirmation of payment including a review of your order.
How can I add a news item?
Every reelisor can submit news items about trends in the doc industry, new productions, events, training initiatives, websites, etc.
After you’re logged-in on reelisor.com, go to the news page and click on "Add a news item" at the upper right. Add a title, content, and a link (optional, but preferable) to the fields. Please don't forget to mention external sources.

News articles may not be edited once submitted, so be sure to check your text using the preview button before submitting. You can, however, delete news articles you have submitted at any time.
After submitting your text, you can lean back and relax. We will check your submission and upload the news for you. If your news item does not appear online right away, don't worry, it can take a little while.
How can I add events to the calendar?
To be able to add entries to the reelisor event calendar, your account needs to be given the privileges of an event editor (i.e. editing rights for entering descriptions of and data about events).
If you’re already a registered reelisor member, we will simply activate your event editor status. If you’re not registered yet, please do so using the special registration code we sent you.
After you’re logged-in on reelisor.com go to the events page and click on "add an event" at the upper right. Fill out all of the fields that you feel are essential to describe and promote your event whether it's a festival, a training session, a workshop or anything else.

Besides the start and end dates - of when the event will actually take place - you can also add a registration deadline if necessary.
Now our users will be able to find your event on the calendar, where they can filter dates by country or type of event and click on every entry to see all the details about the event.
How can I add entries to the funding guide?
To be able to add entries to the reelisor funding guide, your account needs to be given the privileges of a funding editor (i.e. editing rights for entering descriptions of and data about funding programmes).
If you’re already a registered reelisor member, we will simply activate your funding editor status. If you’re not registered yet, please do so using the special registration code we sent you.
After you’re logged-in on reelisor.com go to the funding page and click on "add funding" at the upper right. Fill out all of the fields that you feel are essential to describe and promote your funding programme. Your institution is automatically inserted using the information from your reelisor profile, but you can also change the name if necessary.

After you inserted all the important details, you can also add dates (e.g. deadline for applications, presentation events) to your funding programme.
Now our users will be able to find your funding programme, when searching through our funding guide system with matching criteria. They will also find the dates you added in the reelizor event calendar.
Editing news, events or other entries: How can I format my text?
Here are some methods for formatting your text:
- Phrase Emphasis
Use one asterisk or underscore before and after a word or phrase for italic format.
Use two asterisks or underscores before and after a word or phrase for bold format.

- Manual Line Breaks
To insert a line break, put two or more spaces at the end of your line.
- Hyperlinks
To create hyperlinks for URLs and e-mail addresses (in news items only!) use the following code:

If you want to organize your text with some bullet points, you can make a list by hitting the Enter key twice and then start every new line with a dash in front of each point.

How to add a video (e.g. trailer, snippet) to a project?
The best way to promote a filmmaker’s work is to simply show actual footage by this director.
To allow our members to include video clips to their personal profiles or project pages reelisor has partnered with the online film distribution platform OnlineFilm.org.
The video player technology of OnlineFilm gives you the opportunity to easily upload and then embed a video (e.g. trailer, presentation, snippet) wherever you want.
But OnlineFilm not only lets you use their video player to spice up your reelisor entries. With OnlineFilm you can also distribute your finished films worldwide, selling it via BitTorrent technology as a download to own for a prize that you decide yourself!
Therefore, we recommend that you create an OnlineFilm account now and upload your video files to it.

If you decide to offer your complete film via OnlineFilm, the three minute embeddable flash preview ( Teaser) that will be created automatically will work great as an addition to your film project’s page or your personal profile on reelisor.
If you don’t want to sell your film via onlinefilm or the production is not yet finished, you can also decide only to upload a trailer on OnlineFilm and then use the embeddable preview player to put this trailer on reelisor as a flash preview. You can also offer it as download in better Quality (mp4), just write 0,00 in the field where you set the price.
If you don’t have a trailer yet, you can upload an excerpt from your film or the whole film and the OnlineFilm system will automatically create a three minute flash preview out of it, starting directly at the beginning, again embeddable with its own player. If you need a longer preview or another excerpt of the film you uploaded, just drop a mail to office@onlinefilm.org with the title of the film and the length of the clip you want to use (exact minutes and seconds of beginning and end). The OnlineFilm-Team will be glad to help you.
Once your film, trailer or snippet is uploaded to OnlineFilm you can embed the player on reelisor as well as other websites. To avoid frustration among those who think your film is already done and available as download please add the word "trailer" or "teaser" to your title for the time beeing.
Note: All the films and clips you upload via OnlineFilm and set free for preview and/or sale as download will also be represented on www.onlinefilm.org and its affiliate sites. Such you will create great awareness for your project! If you want your clip to be viewable only for reelisor members, you still have to use the reelisor upload tool until Onlinefilm does allow this restriction as well.
