Prague, November 28, 1989. The Czechoslovakian Communist Party decides to abdicate and anncounces that it will relinquish its power. A banner across the former State Television building declares: "Poland - 10 years, Hungary – 10 months, East Germany - 10 weeks, Czechoslovakia - 10 days". In Bucharest, they would soon be adding: "Romania - 10 hours". This is the extraordinary countdown to the fall of the Iron Curtain. It is the countdown to the end of communism. It is also the timeline of the documentary series "Farewell, Comrades!". The real heroes of "Farewell, Comrades!" are citizens with outstanding stories, men and women in the shadow, yet directly involved in the huge process of the fall of European Communism. The story has never before been told from this perspective and at this scale.
